An in-browser accessibility tool that turns automated findings into inspectable page elements and actionable remediation steps.

ADA Scanner extension results

Overview

Automated accessibility reports are hard to use when findings are disconnected from the page. ADA Scanner keeps the audit inside the browser and connects each issue to its affected element.

My contribution

I built the Manifest V3 extension, side panel, scanning and highlighting logic, export behavior, tests, marketing site, and store-ready visual assets.

Technical architecture

The extension coordinates a side-panel interface with injected page scanning powered by axe-core. Results are normalized for display, highlighting, remediation guidance, and JSON export.

  • Top-level and iframe scanning where browser access permits.
  • Direct page highlighting for selected violations.
  • Computed contrast guidance and CSS-oriented fixes.
  • Repeat scans to verify remediation without leaving the page.

Engineering highlights

  • Worked within Manifest V3 permission and execution constraints.
  • Separated audit results from page-manipulation behavior.
  • Made technical WCAG findings useful to developers and QA.

Functional status

Production / live. The product website is public and the extension implementation, automated tests, and store assets are present. Browser behavior depends on Chrome permissions and the target page's iframe policies.
